
MARGHITA
Marghita municipality is situated in the Western part of Romania, in the north of Bihor county, at the edge of thr Western Plain, on the right shore of Barcau river, near its confluence with Bistra Valley. By the county road 191, Marghita is connected to Oradea, in the South and to Tasnad, Carei and Satu-Mare, in the North. The national road 19B places Marghita between Sacuieni and Simleul Silvaniei, in Salaj County. Marghita municipality is 30 km away from the border between Romania and Hungary. Not far from the town there are frontier crossing points (Bors, Sacuieni, Valea lui Mihai). The total area of Marghita, including Chet and Ghenetea, villages (two administrative-territorial subdivisions), is 8.373 ha. The first documentary attestation of the establishment goes back to 1216. After the Second World War, Marghita made substantial progress in terms of economy, turning into an industrial-agrarian commune, with workshops and ready-made clothes and shoe factories, furniture, machine tools and livestock farms. According to the administrative territorial organization of that time, Marghita was the centre of the rural district and afterwards district. In 1967 Marghita became a toown, which facilitated the development of the present day administrative centre. In 1989 revolution, which led to the breackdown of the communist regime in Romania opened new horizons for Marghita. The privatization process started, the land was returned to its rightful owners and many private firms were founded. Many people set up their own businesses. The democratic political parties, prohibited by the communist regime for 5 decades, are back to life again. On the 23rd of December 2003, Marghita was declared municipality, by the law voted by the Romanian Parliament.
ALESD
The Aleşd town is located in the eastern part of Bihor County, on the national road D.N. 1 (E 60) at a distance of 38 km towards Oradea and 112 km towards the city of Cluj-Napoca. Aleşd is situated in the Vad-Borod depression, on Crisul Repede River, at an average altitude of 224 m, at the foot of the Plopis Mountains in the northeast and at the foot of the Pădurea Craiului Mountains south of the city. Today, four communities are included in the configuration of the city: Aleşd, Peştis, Tinăud and Pădurea Neagră. The city occupies an area of 71.95 km². According to the census carried out in 2011, the population of Aleşd is 10,066 inhabitants. Most of the inhabitants are Romanian (60.94%). The main minorities are Hungarians (15.49%), Roma (12.05%) and Slovaks (6.19%). Aleşd was declared a town in 1968. The town of Alesd is twined with the Kaba towns in Hungary, Băcioi from the Republic of Moldova and Stará Ľubovňa from Slovakia. Activities that are specific to this area: exploitation and processing of wood, exploitation and selling of stone and building materials, footwear industry, agriculture. Sightseeing: Piatra Şoimului Fortress, Piatra Jurcoaiei Cave, Aleşd thermal bath, Bathyany Castle (part of the Aleşd Hospital), Wooden Church “Buna Vestire” în Peştiş, “Saint Dumitru” Church in Tinăud, the Zichy Hunting Castle (Saint Ilie Monastery today) and the Wooden Church “Dormition of the Mother of God” of Saint Ilie Monastery. Alesd City Hall operates in the city center, on Bobalna street no. 3, having 82 employees. The City Council consists of 17 local councilors. The followings are subordinated to Aleşd Town Hall: Alesd City Hospital; Constantin Şerban Theoretical High School, Alexandru Roman Technical College, Salubri S.A.
SINTEU
Şinteu (in Slovak language – Nová Huta) is a commune in Bihor County, consisting of the Huta Voivozi, Socet, Şinteu (administrative center) and Valea Târnei villages. Şinteu commune is located in the eastern part of the Bihor County, at the peak of Mount Şes, at an average altitude of 750 m, alongside the national road DN1H, connecting Aleşd with Şimleu Silvaniei, covering an area of over 40 km². Sinteu commune is crossed by many springs and streams, of which the most important is the Bistra River. The most important natural resource of the area is represented by forests, the territory of Şinteu commune being covered with over 1,000 hectares of wooded grassland. According to the census carried out in 2011, Şinteu commune has 1,021 inhabitants. Most of the inhabitants are Slovak (96.38%), while there is a minority of Romanians (1.08%). Şinteu commune is characterized by scattered type of settlement structure, specific for the mountain areas, the households being at appreciable distances from one another. The commune is located in the Natura 2000 Site, called Mount Şes. The most important events for the community life are The Day of the Romano-Catholic Church Saints Cyril and Methodius (celebrated in July) and the Potato Festival (celebrated in October). Şinteu commune is twinned with Appenzell from Switzerland, and Terchova, Lucky, Igram and Kralova pri Senci from Slovakia. The municipality of Şinteu is located in the center of the commune’s administrative center, on Main Street no. 2.
SZARVAS
The town of Szarvas is located in Békés county, in the Körös-Corner region. The population is 16 000, but Szarvas is also an attraction zone of many small villages, settlementssurrounding the town. It is a centre in the public sector. It is an important tourism destination, with many spectacular sites. Main sources of livelihood besides the tourism are the agriculture, meat industry, textile industry andprocessing industry. Our municipality takes partin the named project with a 72 500 euro total budget, in which 2 cross-border exchange of experiences workshops and one joint meeting of the local decision making bodies will be organised. Besides the conferences there are the following pilot activities in the project: Guidelines on transparency in public administration, Digital education programme for population 50+, Website containing the information in Romanian and Slovak language, and Set of audio-technical equipment in the meeting room for the sessions of the Board of Representatives.
BERETTYÓÚJFALU
Within this project, the total amount of 72.500 EURO earned by Berettyóújfalu Town Hall are to be used to accomplish the followings (in addition to the content mandatory project tasks): the Town Hall meeting room will be renovated / improved, the related furniture and equipments will be purchased (sound system, projector, voting system etc), the town’s web page will be upgraded, active and its content will be translated, but also 5 working meetings of the partner communities will be organized. The project benefited from favorable support on September 14, 2019.
